  • And so the reality is, is that density dependent and density independent factors can work together to determine how large a population, which is the number of individuals of one species that live in an area. Or when you have only 10 deer in an area, it's gonna make it less likely that very many of them are going to be able to survive. When you have 100 dear, there's a chance that some of them are going to be able to survive the hard winter. What's gonna be this one? Because there's more dear there. But let's say that the area that each of them live in goes through a really hard winter, and it destroys a lot of the food, and it makes it really cold and kills many of the deer off which populations gonna be in better shape. And so the amount of food is gonna be the dependent on the density or the size of the population, and therefore is gonna limit the population. So, for example, food food is a density dependent factor because the more the more organisms of them or individuals in a population, the higher the density and therefore the less food that's going to be available for all the organisms. Density dependent factors are factors that depend on the size of the population. When we're talking about populations of organisms in an environment, there's a couple different types of factors that affect how large a population congee get.
